This is from a FACEBOOK post today:
I have a request, and I don’t know how to get it to the right person. I understand that Thomas Knowles is the person that I should contact, and Thomas I know you will get the info here if I post it. I know that we have awards presented to outstanding BHS graduates, the BHSAA Hall of Fame awards. I don’t know how to go about nominating someone, but there is a graduate of 1963 class who has written and had published several books. She also works with new writers, helping them learn how to write and get published. Brenda Hill is that writer, or perhaps I should say author. She currently lives in CA and is actively writing and teaching. Please let me know how I can nominate her for the Hall of Fame, or let me know where I can get the form needed. Thanks a bunch. Elizabeth Walker Persons, BHS Class of 1963
I would never post anything that mentions my age, as some agents and publishers think older adults can’t cut it, but I decided to let it go public because:
- Maybe I CAN’T cut it as far as activities I used to do when younger; however, I can still write. And you can too!
- I didn’t actively pursue my dream of writing until I was in my fifties. That’s when I got serious and attended classes, conferences, and did everything I could to learn the craft.
- That mean, y’all, that it’s NEVER TOO LATE to follow your dreams!
So if you have a dream, go for it!
Thank you, Elizabeth. No matter what happens, you made my day!
