Multi-Author Book Signing

What a fun, busy day eight authors and I had last Saturday. We held a book signing event at Bob’s Big Boy, Calimesa, CA, and offered our books and donated prizes for the drawings, which began at 4:15pm.
We felt so important as the public checked our books and asked about them. We offered a variety of genres, including my With Full Malice - about a deadly vigilante society in SoCal. Some had romance, fantasy, romance, and a couple had their autobiographies. Most of us sold some books, and we all enjoyed the day. Bob's Big Boy's food platters were beyond what I'd expected.
Thank, everyone, for making it such a special day.

Unholy Desire

stacks of paperWhen I began UD, I had no idea it would be so difficult to write. After all, it’s  shorter than my other novels, but I have some of the same problems. Even though I’m a plotter, I still doubt a scene’s placement: should this or that event go here or there? Then I stall, worrying about it, and I can’t continue until I’ve worked it out.

I know all the so-called ‘experts’ say to continue on, to ‘fix it’ later, but that doesn’t work for me. I must have that relieved feeling about something I’ve just written in order to continue and concentrate on the next scene.

I’m on the home stretch, though, and can make out those magical words, ‘The End,’ not too far ahead. I’ll get there, I will, I will, I will.

Cover Change

After several revisions, I’m close to a new cover for Unholy Desire, and it’s getting exciting. At first I wanted the original house and moon, but with an added element to reflect the story changes. My designer suggested something a bit different.

So while we’re keeping the house and moon idea, she changed it slightly and now we’re working on the added elements including different fonts for the title and author name.

I’ve gone through about twelve proofs so far. Yes, 12, but I think I’m close to choosing one after some slight changes are made. I don’t know who will be the happiest–the designer or me. Thank goodness she’s a patient soul who wants to please her clients.

I’ll post it when it’s completed, probably in a couple more days.

Hope you like it!

Beyond the Quiet, Erotica Version

BQ4WebsitesAfter I left the original publisher, I revised certain sections of the novel, ensuring it was sensuous instead of erotic. Now, due to several requests, I’ve posted the original X-Rated version to my website:

Beyond the Quiet – Erotica Version

Please be advised, however, that the entire novel isn’t loaded with sex. It’s only after my character meets a fantabulous man that she opens her heart to him.

If you read it, please post your comments. I’m interested. Thanks!

Wants and A Restless Spirit

I’m working on Unholy Seduction, trying to complete it this month, but not sure that’s going to happen. I’m doing the physical requirement of sitting in front of my computer, but problem is, I’m looking out the window more often than the computer screen, wanting to grab my keys and take off. Not sure where, but I just want to go. Restless feet, I guess. Or restless spirit, which is a more appropriate phrase since I’m writing a ghost story – or supposed to be writing.

I’d love to be traveling the country, seeing everything I can, but here I am at my desk, dreaming of the day when I can simply take off. I love the sight and sound of the ocean waves crashing on the shore, so I want to drive up the coast of California, see Big Sur, Carmel. I also want to see the east coast as well and have one of those crab bakes on the sand. I want fresh lobster right from the ocean, and I want enough of it so I’m not filling up on salad and potato, saving the lobster for last. I want to see the Everglades – in winter, tho. Mosquitoes and other insects that love to feed on me doesn’t thrill me. Or reptiles. I like to look at them when they’re behind thick glass. Niagara Falls is high on my list, have been fascinated by them since I saw Niagara with Marilyn Monroe as a child.  I want to see everything.

Sometimes I wonder if it’ll ever happen, but in order to keep the dream alive, I must keep writing. I’ll eventually finish the novel, maybe not this month if the wanderlust keeps up, but soon. Then I’ll feel proud of myself, something I need to keep me going.

Beyond the Quiet

BQ100Beyond the Quiet, a novel about a middle-aged woman who learns to live after her husband dies, has some of the most contentious reviews on Amazon.

Most say they didn’t like the sex scenes while others said the character was bi-polar. Another said I was the bi-polar one. One reader questioned my writing ability.

Yet it’s been praised by others, such as Coffee Time Romance. Even tho Beyond isn’t a typical romance with a Happily Ever After ending, they awarded the book The Coffee Time Reviewer’s Award.

So who’s right? I guess the old saying, “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder,” applies also to reading.

The novel is available now on Kindle Select, which mean if you’re an Amazon Prime member, you may borrow it and read for FREE! Or watch for the FREE download dates at the end of December.

So read for yourself – and let me know what you think. I’m interested.
